Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has applauded the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its decision to appoint young Nigerians into its National Working Committee (NWC), describing the move as a strong commitment to youth inclusion in governance.
Atiku gave the commendation on Friday in a post shared via his official X handle, following the ADC’s recent announcement of key youth appointments within the party’s leadership structure.
The newly appointed members include Bilyaminu Duhu as Assistant National Youth Leader (North East), Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hassana Dada as Assistant National Youth Leader (North Central), David Itokpa as Deputy National Welfare Secretary, and Hauwa Yusuf as Deputy National Secretary.

Reacting to the appointments, Atiku, a former presidential candidate, stated that the ADC had moved beyond promises to demonstrate genuine leadership by empowering the youth.
“Congratulations to the vibrant young members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—Bilyaminu Duhu, Jackie Wayas (@JWEZEE), Hassana Dada, David Itokpa (@iamhistory_), Hauwa Yusuf (@itz_hawee), and others, on their well-deserved appointments to the party’s National Working Committee,” Atiku wrote.
He noted that Nigeria’s future must involve the active participation of its youth population and praised the ADC for giving them a voice in decision-making.
“The @ADCNig is no longer just speaking about youth inclusion; it is now boldly demonstrating it in action,” he said. “Indeed, the future of our youth must not be shaped in their absence, and I commend the ADC for setting a powerful example by giving them a seat at the table where decisions are made.”
Atiku added that the gesture reflects true leadership—one that goes beyond rhetoric and delivers on inclusive governance.
The development has been widely welcomed by young political observers, with many describing it as a step toward bridging the generational gap in Nigerian politics.
