Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has come out to speak about modern feminism. He recently described it as a movement that has strayed from its original purpose.
Speaking during a recent interview with The EchoRoom, the movie star revealed that while early feminist movements focused on tackling issues like patriarchy and gender imbalance, the present version borders on criminality.

According to him, modern feminism has grown into a faulty ideology that aids nothing but unnecessary competition between the male and female gender.
He stated that the actual perpetrators that instigated the terrible trend started the movement for their own selfish gain.
“I consider it a crime, a kind of assault. The perpetrators of this… clearly, I would not name the magazine… launched a clever campaign to push sales . Who were their chief readers? Women. So they devised an ideology that allowed women to challenge the status quo and compete with men in the same space,” he said.
He further noted that modern feminism was strategically marketed by a women’s magazine as a sales tactic, but it eventually transformed into a mindset that encourages women to oppose men completely.
Jim concluded by saying that the current double standard that comes with feminism is making him question the ideology in the first place.
“This was a campaign that went too far, and certain women fully embraced the ideology.
They decided that this whole ideology of ‘we do not need a man, anything a man can do we can do better’… escalated, and blew it out of proportion. Now it has been adopted as a lifestyle, and a new cultural standard.
The double standard of it all is what makes me question the ideology in the first place. Do you not understand the falsehood of it? The two-faced approach to it? I believe men and women have distinct roles and when they work together in harmony that is when true balance is achieved. That is what they are yet to understand,” he added.
