The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with the killing of 22-year-old Dauda Ahmed in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Babayo Musa, 20, and Zaidu Sani, 18, allegedly conspired with two others still at large to attack the victim with machetes over suspicions of motorcycle theft.
Police reports indicate that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning at Jauro Musa Quarters, where Ahmed sustained severe wounds to the head and stomach.
He was taken to the General Hospital in Kumo but was confirmed dead on arrival.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, described the act as a “clear case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide,” warning against jungle justice.
“Two suspects have been arrested and confessed to the attack. The others, identified as Sulaiman and Usama, are on the run. No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,” Abdullahi said.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, while police continue efforts to track the fleeing suspects.
