Nollywood actress Peju Johnson has refuted the popular notion that women support one another in the Nigerian film industry. Peju recently revealed that she confirmed that it was only a mere saying on a movie set.
Speaking during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, she shared that after shooting about 5 scenes on a movie project, and showing up the next day to continue shooting, a female producer suddenly stormed the set and ordered her removal from the production.

Maintaining that she had no beef with the woman before that day, Peju explained that the producer instructed the director to get rid of all the scenes she had previously done alongside the crew.
She stated that the shocking experience was all the proof she needed to know that women don’t really support a fellow woman in the industry.
“I was on a movie set where I had already shot about five scenes the previous day. When I returned the next day to continue filming, the producer came and instructed them to delete all the scenes I had done. She told them to remove me from the production. We never had any fight prior to that. And it wasn’t just her, her friends were also there and they supported her decision. There’s no such thing as ‘women supporting women’ in our industry,” she said.
The movie star also addressed speculation that she underwent cosmetic surgery to enhance her body, stressing that she only removed fat from her big belly.
Peju concluded by saying that she had to resort to getting rid of her belly fat because she likes looking good.
“I have a big belly and I felt like removing the fat from it. I only worked on my stomach, not my whole body, and I did it for personal reasons. I like looking good. It wasn’t done to impress anyone or to ‘pepper’ people. It was purely for myself,” she added.
