Gunmen suspected to be members of an Agatu militia have killed a community leader in Ajokpachi Odo village, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on his official X account on Sunday.
According to Makama, about 60 armed men stormed the village at around 6:00 a.m. on Friday, firing shots into the air to scare residents.
During the raid, the attackers allegedly accused the community of aiding Fulani herders in carrying out assaults along the Kogi–Benue border.
The victim, identified as 65-year-old Nuhu Aduga Echoda, was shot dead in the attack.
Frightened villagers fled into nearby bushes to escape the gunfire before security operatives later arrived at the scene to assess the situation and document the incident.
Makama added that the family of the deceased declined a post-mortem examination, opting for immediate burial in accordance with local customs.
