Popular rapper Young Thug has said that therapy does not really help with trauma. He recently revealed that, as opposed to popular opinion, he does not believe therapy helps to heal anyone.
Speaking during an interview with The Pivot podcast, the lyricist touched on mental health, masculinity, and interpersonal relationship struggles.

According to him, he does not see the value in seeking professional help during a mental health crisis, and he would rather rely on conversations with his friends.
He stated that rubbing minds with family and loved ones will yield better results than opening up with a complete stranger.
“My big sister, my big brother, my dad, my mom, my OGs… I listen to y’all,” he said.
Young Thug further noted that he would actually feel less of a man if his partner sought out therapy.
He concluded by saying that he’d always prefer a partner who would rather depend on a conversation with him to feel better.
“It’s like damn, you’ll actually call somebody and listen to what they have to say over me? Instead of listen to what I’m telling you,” he added.
Reacting, “Talking to your boi ain’t therapy bro. Therapist doesn’t heal, they allow and give you tools to better handle your emotions,” an X user wrote.
“Therapist don’t heal, they help you walk through to better understand and approach it in a way you might have not thought about,” another X user insisted.
“Respectfully THUGGER, it’s not about what we can do but rather what YOU can do in that SPACE. it’s always up to the client to seek healing & change. We are only the guiding force to help you get there. P.s – don’t knock something you haven’t tried,” a professional therapist chipped in.
