The Senior Political Assistant to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarewaju, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election if Atiku and former President Goodluck Jonathan contest on different party platforms.
Olarewaju made the remark while featuring on the Mic On podcast on Saturday, where he analyzed potential political dynamics ahead of the 2027 polls.
According to him, Jonathan stands a strong chance of winning public support if he emerges victorious in a competitive primary election.

“If Goodluck Jonathan can come into the primaries and contest in a competitive primaries and he wins, we all will support him,” Olarewaju said.
Responding to a hypothetical scenario in which Jonathan runs on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Atiku contests under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), he declared:
“APC loses. The APC will have no base in the 2027 election if Jonathan runs on the PDP and Atiku or someone else runs in the ADC.”
Olarewaju, however, expressed concern over the current state of the PDP, insisting that the party has lost its national influence.
“The PDP is no longer the force it once was and no longer has the drive. The PDP today has become a mere vehicle to satisfy ethnic desires,” he stated.
He added that while the PDP might remain relevant in some states, it has lost its footing in national politics, saying, “The PDP will still remain a force in certain states, but as far as national politics is concerned, the PDP is no longer fit for purpose.”
