Napoli manager Antonio Conte has shared why he decided to bench star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne in the 2-1 comeback win over Genoa. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, as opposed to the rumours of a dispute between him and KDB, he only benched the Belgian midfielder to manage Napoli’s tight Serie A and UCL schedule.

He added that De Bruyne is a very important player in his team and he is very much part of his plans this season.
His words, “We have to manage our schedule between Serie A and the Champions League. Against Pisa, I rested Anguissa and Lobotka, today, after several games where Kevin was a key player, I chose to start with a 4-3-3. But he’s fully integrated, we understand each other perfectly. He’s very important for us because, when we play with four midfielders, he adds a lot of quality.
In the second half, all the substitutes helped us, we’re on our journey, improving the new players who must become strong and contribute.”
WOW.
