Legendary singer Celine Dion has said that her 15-year-old sons have become her greatest source of strength following her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis. She recently confirmed that panic buttons have been fitted throughout their family home.
Speaking to People magazine, Celine revealed that her twins, Eddy and Nelson, have stood by their mother since she received the diagnosis in 2022, 6 years after losing their father, Rene Angeli, to throat cancer.

According to her, involving her sons in her battle with the disease is her own way of making them responsible for their mother at an early age.
Celine stated that her boys are now old enough to know that their mum will need their assistance from time to time.
“We have panic buttons in the house, and they [her sons] know how to put me on my side.
The idea of telling them and showing them, it was not to frighten them.
It is for them to know, ‘I’m your mom, and it’s my responsibility. You’re old enough to understand I might need your help’,” she said.
The music legend further noted that her sons regularly conduct nightly checks to monitor whether her symptoms have worsened beyond their typical severity.
Celine concluded by saying that her kids can now comprehend what happens to her body during a “crisis” episode.
Stiff Person Syndrome is a rare autoimmune neurological condition that triggers muscle rigidity, stiffness and agonising spasms.
Whilst the precise cause remains unclear, research indicates an autoimmune reaction where the body targets nerve cells controlling muscle function.
