The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of attempting to undermine the economic reforms and financial transparency drive of Governor Dauda Lawal.
In a statement on Thursday, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Haliru Andi, described recent criticisms by the APC as “politically motivated and borne out of frustration.”
“It is laughable that the same APC government that looted the state dry for eight consecutive years without any trace of accountability is now pretending to care about the welfare of Zamfara people,” the statement read.

According to the PDP, the APC’s comments stem from frustration over what it described as the success of Governor Lawal’s reform agenda, which it claimed has blocked “previous leakages and corrupt channels” used to divert public funds.
The party also refuted the APC’s allegation that Hajiya Rakkiya Ahmad Dodo “receives N300 million monthly,” describing the claim as false and malicious.
“The current administration has introduced a transparent revenue collection system where every kobo is remitted into the state’s account for the benefit of the people, unlike the previous APC government that operated with cash collections riddled with corruption,” the PDP added.
The party urged residents to disregard what it called misleading claims intended to distract the government from its development agenda.
