The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said Wednesday’s Federal High Court judgment will not disrupt its preparations for the national convention scheduled for November.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated this in a press release on Thursday, describing the ruling as “an assault on Nigeria’s democratic process.”
He maintained that the PDP remains empowered to continue all activities leading to the convention.

“We will go on with the convention of our party, where new national officers would be elected to steer the party’s affairs for the next four years,” Ologunagba said.
His comment comes after Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from recognising the outcome of the planned 2025 national convention pending compliance with legal requirements.
The court issued the order while ruling on a suit challenging the validity of the PDP’s preparations for the exercise.
