Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has declared that northerners will support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Yakasai stated this on Thursday in Akure during the inauguration of the Ondo State chapter of the TSG, where Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was decorated as the Grand Patron of the group.
He said the North owes President Tinubu “moral support” based on his past political alliance with the region.

“If Asiwaju supported Buhari in 2015 and repeated the same feat in 2019 with success, it has become a moral imperative for all of us northerners to reciprocate,” Yakasai said.
“It is an honour for us to be morally conscious, morally right, and support his second-term bid.”
He dismissed criticisms from some northern figures against President Tinubu, describing dissenting voices as insignificant.
“If you hear a few voices claiming to oppose President Tinubu, they are mostly people fingered in corruption, fraud, or those who have not found space in government. They represent an infinitesimal fraction of the electorate,” he added.
Yakasai noted that the Tinubu Support Group remains the umbrella platform coordinating all pro-Tinubu networks nationwide.
Also speaking, the Ondo State Director-General of the group, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, urged residents and political actors to rally behind President Tinubu, citing federal projects attracted to the state under his administration.
He listed projects including the Akure–Ado Road, Ore–Akure Road, Lagos–Calabar Superhighway, Ilesha–Benin Road via Owo and Ose LGAs, Ekiti–Akoko Road, FUTA Teaching Hospital, and the College of Aviation, saying they would form a strong campaign message for 2027.
In his remarks, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the strength of the group’s membership, describing them as “movers and shakers of Ondo politics.”
He assured that Ondo would play a major role in ensuring continuity for the Tinubu administration, adding that mobilisation for the President’s re-election would be made easier through the TSG’s efforts.
