The North-Central APC Forum has again urged Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, made the renewed call on Thursday in Jos during the group’s third-quarter meeting.
He said recent political developments strongly favour the governor’s defection.

Zazzaga, a member of the APC campaign council in the 2023 elections, stated that the North-Central APC Forum was the first political group to publicly invite Mutfwang to join the ruling party. According to him, political predictions made by the forum before and after the 2023 elections are now “becoming a reality across the board.”
He noted that the forum’s advocacy efforts had contributed to key political gains, including the creation of the North-Central Development Commission and the return of the APC national chairmanship to the North-Central zone from the North-West.
He added that the group has been at the forefront of supporting President Bola Tinubu’s policies and encouraging political leaders from other parties to join the APC.
“Our push and calls for Governor Caleb Mutfwang to join the APC have been ongoing since 2023. Many political entities now see the possibility and have joined in making the call. But the fact remains that we were the first to do so,” he said.
Zazzaga argued that Mutfwang’s agenda of “The Time is Now” aligns with the APC’s current direction, adding that the governor’s achievements and leadership style reflect traits of a “progressive governor.”
He insisted that Mutfwang would benefit more from aligning with President Tinubu, whom he said has shown interest in the development of Plateau State.
“Besides, Governor Mutfwang will be on the same page with his counterparts in the North-Central who are in the APC. They will have common ground to work for regional and state development.
“Most legislators from the state are in the APC, and the executive-legislative synergy is crucial for progress and addressing security challenges,” he added.
Zazzaga dismissed opposition within the APC to Mutfwang’s potential defection, saying such individuals “do not understand political strategy” and are acting based on selfish interests rather than the party’s collective good.
