Former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo has expressed his disappointment with the Super Eagles’ inability to beat DR Congo in Sunday’s 2026 World Cup playoffs final in Rabat, Morocco. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, the Super Eagles players did not impress with their performances against Congo, and it was obvious that the team failed to control the game throughout 120 minutes.

Ekpo added that he just cannot accept the fact that Nigeria won’t be playing at the 2026 World Cup.
His words, “It’s difficult for me to believe that the Super Eagles fail to beat DR Congo.
My expectations was high because I was confidence Nigeria will pick the sole ticket for Africa. The team failed to control the game and they paid dearly for it via the penalty shootouts.
I am really not happy at the moment; I just can’t accept the fact that Nigeria won’t be playing at the 2026 World Cup.”
WOW.
