Former BBNaija housemate, Boma Akpore, has recounted how his plans to settle down with his partner ended suddenly. He recently revealed that his marital plans were abruptly brought to an end after her family rejected him outright.
Speaking during an interview on the WithChude podcast, Boma said that he was actually preparing to propose to the woman he deeply loved and believed he would marry before her family turned him down.
According to him, he was set to travel to the United States last August to buy an engagement ring and firm up his serious intentions, only for his partner’s family to shut down the idea of their marriage.
“I met someone I really liked and I was going to marry. I was supposed to be engaging her last August. I was going to go to America, get the ring and bring it back because I liked her and I told her I was going to marry her.
It was an amazing relationship — yes, with normal ups and downs — but I thought it was perfect. Then the family got involved and said, ‘This guy? Hell no, impossible.’” he said.
The reality star further noted that the end of the relationship was the ultimate price he had to pay for being a public figure.
Boma concluded by saying that if he weren’t a celebrity, he’d still have a stable relationship with the woman he loves.
“That collapsed everything and it was discouraging. If I wasn’t in entertainment or in the public eye, nobody would know some things about me. Once you come into the public, that is the price you pay,” he added.
