The Edo State Police Command has arrested two female suspects found in possession of an automatic pump-action shotgun and five live cartridges.
The Command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Benin City, obtained by journalists.
According to Yamu, the firearm, identified as an automatic pump-action shotgun (Breach No. 0230), alongside five live cartridges, was concealed inside a sack at the point of recovery.

Police identified the suspects as Believe Ehinor, 18, and Ofoma Sofia, 19.
Yamu said the duo were apprehended on November 25, 2025, at about 11:30pm, amid ongoing investigations into the earlier arrest of four suspected cultists by operatives of the Uromi Divisional Headquarters.
The spokesperson revealed that the female suspects confessed during interrogation that the weapon belongs to one Peace Ehinor, who reportedly escaped an earlier police raid.
DAILY POST recalls that on November 23, 2025, operatives of the Command arrested four cult suspects during a coordinated operation in Uromi.
Those earlier arrested were identified as Godspower Ehihanor, 24; Miracle Akhigbe, 27; Miracle Kasheka, 25; and Honest Idemudia, 24.
Yamu added that during questioning, Godspower Ehihanor admitted to being a member of the Aye Confraternity.
“All suspects have been charged to court for prosecution, while efforts to track and arrest fleeing gang members continue,” Yamu said.
The Edo State Police Command assured residents that investigations and intelligence-led operations against cult-related activities and arms proliferation across the state remain ongoing.
