The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has advised corps members to cultivate a culture of prudent spending and sound financial management.
General Nafiu delivered the remark on Tuesday during a visit to the 2025 Batch ‘C’ corps members deployed to Edo State at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Okada.
He urged the corps members to shun flamboyant lifestyles and learn to live within their means.

The NYSC helmsman also charged them to remain security-conscious at all times, avoid risky engagements, and stay alert to their environment.
The DG reaffirmed the commitment of the NYSC Management to the safety and welfare of all corps members, stressing that vigilance remains key to personal security.
Tasking them on national cohesion, Nafiu said corps members must lead efforts in promoting unity across cultural and ethnic divides.
“Let me remind you once again to make friends across the different cultural divides — in this camp and in your service locations,” he stated.
He added that corps members should consistently demonstrate the virtues of loyalty, discipline, commitment, hard work and professionalism.
Earlier, the Edo State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Ben-Ushie Frances, in her welcome address, informed the DG that 1,634 corps members were registered in the Batch ‘C’ stream.
She described the new deployees as resourceful, diligent and enthusiastic, citing their active participation in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme and other camp activities.
Ben-Ushie added that strong operational cohesion among camp officials remained a driving factor for a successful orientation exercise.
She said, “There is strong synergy among camp officials, all working diligently towards the realisation of a successful orientation programme.”
