The Taraba State Government has relaxed the curfew imposed on Karim Lamido town and neighbouring villages following violent clashes over farmland ownership.
The new curfew now runs from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., replacing the 24-hour restriction earlier enforced in the affected communities.

The adjustment comes after authorities reported a gradual return to calm in the area, which was recently engulfed in a conflict that claimed at least 20 lives and destroyed homes and farmlands worth millions of naira.
The violence was triggered by a dispute over ownership of fertile floodplain farmlands, now highly valuable due to dry-season farming and the significant income generated by agricultural activities. The competition for control of the land escalated into a deadly confrontation between neighbouring communities that had coexisted peacefully for years.
Despite the improved security situation, authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant while peace-building efforts continue.
