The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) has commended the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for implementing key demands of the union.
The President of ARD-FCTA, Dr George Ebong, gave the commendation during an outreach programme at the Durumi Area 1 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp in Abuja.

Ebong said that despite the numerous challenges facing doctors in the FCT, the minister has taken steps to address several of the union’s demands. He, however, urged the FCTA to expedite action on the remaining outstanding issues.
He noted that the association remains committed to providing free healthcare services to vulnerable groups, including internally displaced persons, in line with its core mandate of saving lives.
According to him, the outreach to the IDP camp was aimed at delivering medical care and other forms of support to residents.
“We decided to come to the IDP camp with some drugs, and that is why we are here. We want to see how we can impact the lives of our people through medicare and other means,” Ebong said.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by resident doctors, he expressed appreciation to the FCT Minister for approving and implementing most of the union’s demands.
“We want to say a very big thank you to the Minister, Nyesom Wike, who approved most of our demands. We are grateful for the implementations so far, and we believe that the remaining issues will also be addressed,” he added.
InfoStride News recalls that resident doctors in the FCT had embarked on several strike actions in the past to press for improved welfare and better working conditions.
The ARD-FCTA recently suspended its latest strike, pending the full implementation of its outstanding demands by the FCTA.
