The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it will not recognise the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, citing subsisting court judgments and unresolved legal processes.
INEC made this known in a letter dated December 22, 2025, signed by its Secretary, Dr Rose Oriaran-Anthony.
The Commission said it could not accede to requests to recognise or upload on its website the list of national officers purportedly elected at the PDP National Convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan.

According to INEC, its decision is guided by existing court rulings and pending litigation arising from the leadership crisis rocking the opposition party.
The electoral body stressed that it would be improper to recognise any factional leadership or officers of the PDP while the matter remains before the courts.
INEC added that it would continue to abide by the rule of law and await the final determination of the courts before taking any action on the issue.
