Kano State was on Monday thrown into mourning following the sudden death of two sitting members of the State House of Assembly, who passed away within a short interval.
Sarki Aliyu Daneji, who represented Kano Municipal Local Government Area, reportedly died just minutes after the death of another lawmaker, Aminu Sa’adu, the representative of Ungoggo Local Government Area.
The near-simultaneous deaths of the two legislators sent shockwaves across the state, particularly within political circles, given the active roles both men played in the Assembly.
The death of Daneji was confirmed by the spokesperson to the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Bature announced the development via a post on his official Facebook page, expressing condolences to the families of the deceased lawmakers, the Kano State House of Assembly and the people of the state.
Details surrounding the circumstances of their deaths were yet to be made public as of the time of filing this report.
