Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, pledging full implementation of the budget as his administration enters the final year of its first term.
The signing ceremony was held on Monday in Osogbo, with the governor accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun; Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye; Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; and members of the State Executive Council.

Speaking after assenting to the bill, Adeleke said the 2026 budget was designed to consolidate and expand governance and service delivery in line with his administration’s five-point agenda.
He described the new fiscal year as a transition into an era of expanded ambitions, noting that the administration’s performance had attracted public admiration.
“2026 marks the final year of our first term, with expanded ambitions to complete ongoing projects and launch new initiatives for the good of our people,” the governor said.
Adeleke stated that the past three budgets had laid a solid foundation for sustainable development, stressing that abandoned projects were completed while new ones were initiated.
According to him, the administration had spent billions of naira clearing pension and salary backlogs, as well as settling promotion arrears and allowances.
He listed investments in agricultural mechanisation, health facilities, school rehabilitation, road construction, flyover bridges and the construction of a new stadium in Osogbo as some of the achievements recorded under previous budgets.
The governor added that his administration ensured value for money through procurement reforms and local content policies, disclosing that nearly N4 billion had been approved for cooperative financing.
“We stopped capital flight which ensures Osun money serves Osun people,” he said.
On economic reforms, Adeleke said the state improved its business environment through tax harmonisation and reduced timelines for the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy, adding that investment inflows had risen significantly since 2022.
He also highlighted improvements in social indicators, including access to primary healthcare, performance in national examinations and a reduction in the state’s debt profile, citing figures attributed to the Federal Debt Management Office.
The governor said the administration had received several local and international awards, describing them as unsolicited recognition of its performance, and thanked residents for their support.
Speaking specifically on the 2026 budget, Adeleke said it would focus on consolidation and continuity, even as it coincides with the election cycle.
“We must multi-task and ensure governance does not suffer,” he said.
He assured residents of full budget implementation, urging ministries, departments and agencies to strictly adhere to execution timelines, and expressed gratitude to the people of Osun State.
