The Executive Chairman of Lau Local Government Council in Taraba State, Peter Julius Vau, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection took place on Wednesday in Lau, the administrative headquarters of the local government area.
Speaking at the event, Vau said his decision was informed by the need to promote unity, progress and sustainable development in Lau Local Government Council.

He reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented governance, noting that joining the APC would provide broader opportunities for political inclusion and help accelerate development initiatives across the council.
Vau assured residents that his administration remains focused on maintaining peace, strengthening unity and delivering rapid development under the APC platform.
The defection is seen as a significant development in the political landscape of the council.
