The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured five of the six chairmanship positions contested in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections.
In Bwari Area Council, APC candidate Joshua Ishaku emerged winner of the chairmanship seat with 18,466 votes.
APC’s Chris Garki also clinched victory in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election.

The only chairmanship position won by the opposition went to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as its candidate, Kasim Mohammed, emerged victorious in Gwagwalada Area Council.
Similarly, APC candidates Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, Nuhu Daniel Kwali and Abdullahi Umar Abubakar won the chairmanship elections in Kuje, Kwali and Abaji area councils respectively.
The outcome of the polls reaffirmed the APC’s dominance in the FCT, with only Gwagwalada Area Council going to the PDP.
