The Nigeria Police Force, Zone One Headquarters in Kano, has urged members of the public, particularly Muslim faithful, to remain vigilant during the final ten days of Ramadan.
The call was contained in a security advisory issued on Monday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of Zone One Headquarters, Abdullahi Hussaini.
According to the statement, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone One, Garba Ahmed, reminded worshippers to remain security conscious as many observe late-night prayers during the period.

While encouraging peaceful religious observances, the police warned that criminal elements might attempt to take advantage of the late hours to perpetrate offences.
“Members of the public, particularly the Muslim faithful, are advised to remain vigilant during the last ten days of Ramadan when many worshippers observe late-night prayers,” the statement said.
The police advised residents and worshippers to avoid isolated routes, safeguard their personal belongings, and promptly report suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
“Worshippers and residents are therefore advised to be security conscious, avoid isolated routes, safeguard their personal belongings, and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station,” the statement added.
The command also assured residents of its commitment to maintaining safety throughout the period.
“The Zone One Police Headquarters remains committed to ensuring the safety of all residents throughout the period and beyond,” the statement said.
It further urged the public to continue cooperating with the police and other security agencies to sustain peace and security across the zone.
