Nine senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The defections were announced during plenary in the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday.

The senators who switched to the ADC include:
- Ireti Kingibe (FCT) – from LP to ADC
- Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo – from PDP to ADC
- Aminu Waziri Tambuwal – from PDP to ADC
- Binos Dauda Yaroe – from PDP to ADC
- Austin Akobundu – from PDP to ADC
- Enyinnaya Abaribe – from APGA to ADC
- Victor Umeh – from LP to ADC
- Tony Nwoye – from LP to ADC
- Lawal Adamu Usman – from PDP to ADC
Meanwhile, journalist earlier reported that during plenary on Thursday, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, disclosed that six members of the PDP had also defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kalu further announced that six other lawmakers from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and the Labour Party had defected to the ADC.
The announcements were formally read on the floor of the House during plenary.
