Liverpool manager Arne Slot has said that his team deserved defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, while both clubs had an equal level of performance in the first half, Brighton were clearly the better team in the second half.

Slot added that not having 3 goalscorers available for the entirety of the clash further emphasizes LFC’s injury worries this season.
His words, “What went wrong started off with the lead-up to this game, as so many times happened this season.
When we played a very good game and we thought we could bring that level to the next game, or even better, we had Mo Salah injured and we have Alisson [Becker] injured.
After two minutes Hugo Ekitike [is] out, so that has happened so many times to us this season and again now. What happened a lot this season is also that the first chance of the other team immediately went in.
But Brighton deserved to win if you look at the second half, because in the first half I think it was an equal game. But in the second half Brighton were the better team on the pitch and they deserved to win.
I have a clear opinion what that’s down to but that’s not what I’m going to say over here. As I said, they were the better team and created more chances than us.
Everything I say about this people will see this as excuses and I never like to use excuses after the game. Give credit to them. They were good. I think it was nice for their manager that he was able to bring [Kaoru] Mitoma in because he was quite good again.
First of all, it says how and what great teams Liverpool has had in the last 10 years, I think.
And a great manager, by the way, as well. I could come up [and] tell you all the reasons why we’ve lost 10 times this season.
Now one of them we just heard – late goals – and I think today sums it all up in terms of injury problems this season. To go without three great goalscorers, it’s never helpful for any team.
And again, the right full-back position… but, OK, it’s not my job to find excuses – my job is to find answers.
That’s what I tried to do again today and it worked out, in my opinion, not too bad in the first 45 minutes because we were playing with them and we were, in my opinion, close.
They were a few times close, we were two times close. In the second half, they were the better team.”
WOW.
Liverpool Football Club is a professional football club based in Liverpool, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. Founded in 1892, the club joined the Football League the following year and has played its home games at Anfield since its formation.
Domestically, the club has won 19 league titles, eight FA Cups, a record nine League Cups and 16 FA Community Shields. In international competitions, the club has won six European Cups, three UEFA Cups, four UEFA Super Cups—all English records—and one FIFA Club World Cup.
The club established itself as a major force in domestic and European football in the 1970s and 1980s, when Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and Kenny Dalglish, led the club to a combined 11 League titles and four European Cups. Liverpool won two further European Cups in 2005 and 2019 under the management of Rafael Benítez and Jürgen Klopp, respectively; the latter led Liverpool to a 19th league title in 2020, the club’s first during the Premier League era.
Anfield was built in 1884 on land adjacent to Stanley Park. Situated 2 miles (3 km) from Liverpool city centre, it was originally used by Everton before the club moved to Goodison Park after a dispute over rent with Anfield owner John Houlding. Left with an empty ground, Houlding founded Liverpool in 1892 and the club has played at Anfield ever since. The capacity of the stadium at the time was 20,000, although only 100 spectators attended Liverpool’s first match at Anfield.
