Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has admitted that Saturday’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Everton was the most disappointing result since his appointment. The defeat comes after the club’s midweek Champions League exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain and leaves the Blues facing a real battle to secure a place in the top four of the Premier League.
According to him, despite telling his players to control the game and not give goals away, the team had an edgy start and ended up making costly mistakes.

Rosenior, however, added that Chelsea’s dismal run of defeats is not a result of a lack of effort.
His words, “The most disappointing evening so far. In terms of the things we spoke about, not gifting goals away, getting control of the game – it wasn’t there. For me, we arrived in the final third a lot. We had an edgy start and then managed to gain control of the game but we weren’t clinical enough. Out of nowhere, they score – and that’s not the first time that has happened. We came out in the second half, had control of the game and made a mistake and we were 2-0 down.
For me, it’s not a lack of effort or belief in the team. When you’re on a run of defeats we’re on, those things get levelled at you but I don’t think that’s the problem at the moment.
I think through the season, if you look at the stats before me. I don’t want to make excuses – that was not good enough, the last week hasn’t been good enough. Why the international break has come at a good time for us, some of the players maybe can have a reset, have a different environment and then come back.
It’s a disappointing time for the club at the moment [because of the last week]. It hurts to lose games of football. We’re one point away from a Champions League position. Hopefully this break now comes at a good moment for us.”
WOW.

The club competes in the Premier League, the top division of English football. They won their first major honour, the League championship, in 1955. The club won the FA Cup for the first time in 1970, their first European honour, the Cup Winners’ Cup, in 1971, and became the third English club to win the Club World Cup in 2022.
On 7 May 2022, Chelsea confirmed that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wyss, to acquire the club. The group was later known as BlueCo.
The UK government approved the £4.25bn takeover, ending Abramovich’s 19-year ownership of the club. Bruce Buck, who served as chairman since 2003, was replaced by Boehly, while long-serving club director and de facto sporting director Marina Granovskaia left, as did Petr Čech from the role of technical and performance advisor.
