Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State on Thursday carried out an unscheduled inspection of the Jerome Udorji Secretariat, the administrative complex housing offices of state ministries.
Soludo, who arrived at about 10:00 a.m., ordered that the gate be locked to prevent latecomers from gaining access to the premises.
During the visit, the governor inspected several ministries and departments within the complex, taking a headcount of workers present at their duty posts.

The exercise, according to him, was aimed at assessing punctuality, conduct, and overall commitment of civil servants.
The governor expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of some workers at the time of the visit, while commending those found at their duty posts.
“I just made an unscheduled visit to the State Civil Service Secretariat this morning. I’m not pleased to see that some workers hadn’t arrived for work at 10 a.m.,” he said.
“But I must commend the dedicated civil servants I met in their respective offices and duty posts. Your diligence is the backbone of our service. Keep pushing,” he added.
He warned absentee workers to improve their commitment, stressing that the state government is focused on building a more efficient and productive civil service.
“To those who didn’t show up: we are watching. We are intentional about building an agile, effective, and productive civil service. If you are not committed, please make way for those who are,” Soludo stated.
Addressing workers after the inspection, the governor disclosed plans for major reforms in the state’s civil service, warning that inefficiency would not be tolerated.
“Those who do not align with the new vision for the civil service will be exited. Government is determined to instill discipline and improve service delivery,” he said.
