A fire outbreak has destroyed a female students’ hostel at the College of Health Technology in Jahun, Jigawa State, affecting no fewer than 52 students.
The incident, reportedly triggered by a cooking gas cylinder, led to the loss of the hostel building and the personal belongings of the affected students.

The Jigawa State Commissioner for Health, Abdullahi Muhammad Kainuwa, who visited the scene, confirmed that firefighters were able to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the institution.
Following the incident, authorities granted the affected students a six-day break.
The Chairman of Jahun Local Government Council, Jamilu Muhammad Dan Malam, said arrangements have been made to transport the students to their respective homes.
He added that the council is also exploring measures to support those impacted by the fire.
According to him, the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency is expected to provide relief materials, including clothing and mattresses, to cushion the effect of the incident.
No casualties were recorded in the fire outbreak.
