Taraba Flags Off EIDU Digital Training for 500 Teachers

The Taraba State Government has flagged off the first phase of training on the EIDU Digital Learning System, targeting 500 teachers as master trainers in a bid to modernise classroom delivery across the state.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Augustina Godwin, performed the flag-off on Tuesday, announcing that Jalingo and Ardo-Kola local government areas have been selected as pilot centres for the programme.

According to the commissioner, the initiative is aimed at equipping selected teachers with digital teaching skills and tools, enabling them to train other educators across Taraba State.

She explained that the programme is designed to enhance classroom instruction, improve learning outcomes, and promote data-driven teaching practices.

Godwin charged the master trainers to serve as change agents, noting that the success of the pilot phase in Jalingo and Ardo-Kola would determine its expansion to other parts of the state.

Also speaking, Permanent Member II of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Zachariah John, described the initiative as “a bold step toward repositioning basic education in Taraba for the demands of a digital age,” commending the ministry and its partners for prioritising teacher development.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Idris A. Goje, said the rollout aligns with the education reform agenda of Governor Agbu Kefas, urging participants to embrace the programme and demonstrate excellence in their respective schools.

Supporting the initiative, the Special Adviser on Education to the governor, Samaila Dauda Agbu, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving teachers’ capacity, noting that investment in educators directly impacts students’ outcomes.

The EIDU Digital Learning System is expected to provide structured digital lesson plans, offline learning materials, and real-time coaching support for teachers.
