President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his determination to seek re-election, dismissing what he described as coordinated efforts by political opponents to force him out of office.
In a strongly worded statement, the president portrayed himself as resilient amid mounting criticism and alleged political manoeuvres ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“They tried to get rid of me, but I refused to go. I am a very stubborn politician,” Tinubu said. “I will campaign for my second term, and I will win.”

He also accused unnamed rivals, including former allies, of exploiting Nigeria’s security challenges to undermine his administration and advance their political ambitions.
“You were played into the hands of brigades, including my old enemies, who want to use insecurity to push me out,” he added.
The remarks come amid heightened political activity and increasing debate over governance and security, as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
Observers say the president’s comments reflect a deepening political contest, with indications of an increasingly intense race for power in the lead-up to the 2027 polls.
