The Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Bello Usman-Kumo, has accepted the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State to adopt Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Kumo, who was also an aspirant for the APC governorship ticket, said he respects the party’s decision and believes that unity within the party remains paramount.

In a statement, the lawmaker explained that he supported the consensus arrangement because he played a role in drafting the Electoral Act, which allows political parties to adopt candidates through consensus.
“My interest and desire to contest for the governorship position in Gombe State were not hidden,” he said.
“However, with the consensus option validly adopted and affirmed in accordance with the party’s position, I am left with no better option than to toe the party line,” he added.
Kumo commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for what he described as their leadership qualities.
He also urged his supporters across Gombe State to remain loyal to the APC and work towards the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
