At least six persons have been confirmed dead, while six others sustained injuries following the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Bagega–Anka road in Zamfara State.
The incident occurred early Thursday when a commercial vehicle conveying passengers travelled through the road in Anka Local Government Area.

The explosion reportedly destroyed parts of the vehicle and temporarily disrupted movement in the area.
Residents alleged that suspected bandits planted the explosive device, which detonated as the vehicle passed through the route.
According to eyewitness accounts, the blast occurred around 9 a.m., killing some passengers instantly, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, said six persons lost their lives in the explosion.
He added that six injured victims were currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Abubakar further disclosed that security personnel had been deployed to the affected area, noting that normal activities had since resumed.
