Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary election in the state.
Fubara made this known in a statement personally signed on Wednesday, saying he remains committed to supporting whoever emerges as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship election.

According to the governor, the decision to withdraw from the race was difficult but necessary after extensive consultations.
He thanked his supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices throughout the political process, acknowledging that many of them may feel disappointed over his decision to step aside.
Fubara explained that his recent silence was deliberate and guided by what he described as the higher interest of Rivers State.
The governor stated that he had faced enormous pressure and difficult choices during the political process.
He also expressed gratitude to the APC for providing him with a platform and appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and encouragement.
Fubara urged party faithful and supporters to remain united and steadfast, insisting that the APC remains a collective political family committed to building a stronger future for the state.
“After deep reflection and extensive consultations with my family, friends, and associates, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC governorship primaries.
“I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party,” Fubara said.
