I Made Nigerians Laugh While Battling Personal Struggles – Taaooma

Popular skitmaker Taaooma has said that she made millions of Nigerians laugh while fighting personal battles. She recently had her say during an interview with KEHINDE AJOSE, and fans have been reacting.

Despite facing different challenges along the way as a content creator, Taaooma stated that she made sure her problems never stopped her from showing up and entertaining her audience.

The comedian added that she has motherhood to thank for changing her in so many beautiful ways.

Her words, “Definitely. I think that’s something a lot of creators experience, even if people don’t always see it. Life doesn’t stop because you have an audience. There were moments I had personal challenges but still had to show up, create content and meet deadlines.

During those periods, I reminded myself that it’s okay to be human. I also learnt the importance of resting when I needed to and leaning on the people around me. I’m grateful that I’ve built a support system that reminds me I don’t always have to carry everything alone.

Motherhood has changed me in so many beautiful ways. I think the biggest lesson has been learning to be intentional with my time because every decision I make affects more than just me now.

It has also taught me patience. You realise very quickly that not everything has to happen immediately, and that’s something I’ve carried into my career as well.

I still love creating and telling stories, but I’m also more conscious about creating balance and making time for my family. It’s made me appreciate life from a completely different perspective.

As a woman who has built a career in the entertainment industry, what challenges have you faced that people may not see behind the scenes?

I think almost every woman has experienced being underestimated at some point, and I wasn’t an exception. Sometimes, people assume someone else is making the creative decisions, or they don’t immediately expect you to be leading a production.

But, I have learnt not to spend too much energy trying to prove people wrong. I prefer to let the work speak for itself.

Thankfully, things are changing, and more women are leading conversations and productions. I’m happy to be part of that generation showing that talent, hard work and consistency matter more than stereotypes.”
