Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o has reacted to critiques of her casting in “The Odyssey.” This comes following the confirmation that the Kenyan-Mexican star will be playing Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra in Christopher Nolan’s star-studded adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey.
Reacting to social media racist-tinged criticism about the casting decision, Lupita admitted that she won’t bother defending herself from the critics.

The moviestar added that she expects the criticism to continue whether she engages or not.
His words, “This is a mythological story.
I’m very supportive of Chris’s intention with it and with the version of this story that he is telling. Our cast is representative of the world. I’m not spending my time thinking of a defense. The criticism will exist whether I engage with it or not.
The Odyssey is so grand. It spans worlds. So that’s why the cast is what it is. We’re occupying the epic narrative of our time.”
WOW.
The cinema of the United States, consisting mainly of major film studios (also known metonymously as Hollywood) along with some independent films, has had a large effect on the global film industry since the early 20th century.
The dominant style of American cinema is classical Hollywood cinema, which developed from 1910 to 1962 and is still typical of most films made there to this day.
Hollywood is considered to be the oldest film industry, in the sense of being the place where the earliest film studios and production companies emerged. It is the birthplace of various genres of cinema —among them comedy, drama, action, the musical, romance, horror, science fiction, and the epic—and has set the example for other national film industries.
Many of Hollywood’s highest-grossing movies have generated more box-office revenue and ticket sales outside the United States than films made elsewhere. The United States is a leading pioneer in motion picture engineering and technology.
