Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves has said that Portugal will remember Diogo Jota as its players participate at the World Cup this summer. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Admitting that the death of his friend and brother hit everyone in Portugal very hard, Neves disclosed that he’ll keep drawing strength from the memory of the deceased.

The former Wolves player added that the aim is for his country to reach the 2026 World Cup final and return with the trophy.
His words, “We’ve talked about it a lot and we always say the same thing.
Sometimes you need to hold on to something to give you that extra bit of strength. That will be one of the things that can give us that extra strength at certain moments and help us get where we want to go.”
On scoring the decisive spot-kick in a penalty shoot out against Spain that gave Portugal the Nations League title almost a year ago, “After that match, I said it had been one of the most important goals of my career — if not the most important.
So if it happens again in this World Cup, and it helps the team progress to the next round or even win the tournament, that would be great.
But I’d prefer to win within 90 minutes and not have to go to penalties. We’re focused on what we can achieve as a team.
All the players in the national team are more than used to this kind of pressure. We recently had four players [Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos] win the Champions League for the second time [with Paris Saint-Germain]. We are a young but experienced squad.
We take this in our stride because we know we have the quality and that we can achieve great things for Portugal.
Our aim is to reach the final, win and return with the World Cup in our hands.
It’s hard to pick a personal goal because we’re focused on what we can achieve as a team.”
WOW.
