The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for next year’s general elections, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Tuesday met with the party’s candidates from Nasarawa State as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structure and unity ahead of upcoming political activities.
The meeting was held at Kwankwaso’s Maitama residence in Abuja and brought together key stakeholders of the party from Nasarawa State.
Sources at the meeting said discussions focused on consolidating the party’s structures, fostering unity among members, and fine-tuning strategies aimed at advancing the NDC’s vision and objectives.

The engagement was also said to reflect the party’s commitment to building a strong, united and people-oriented platform capable of delivering positive change for Nigerians.
The meeting comes days after Kwankwaso was officially unveiled as the vice-presidential candidate of the NDC, following the emergence of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, as the party’s presidential candidate.
Obi and Kwankwaso recently defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the NDC, citing internal divisions and ongoing legal disputes within the party.
Political observers view the meeting as part of the NDC’s broader efforts to consolidate support across the states and strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the next general election.
