A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Ismael, has expressed concern over developments surrounding the party’s ongoing leadership dispute, urging the judiciary to remain impartial in handling matters relating to the crisis.
Speaking with journalists in Lafia on Wednesday, Ismael said all cases concerning the party’s internal affairs should be determined strictly in accordance with the law and established judicial precedents.
According to him, the faction of the ADC leadership aligned with former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola is confident that its position is supported by existing legal authorities on internal party democracy.

He argued that disputes relating to the administration of political parties should be resolved in line with relevant legal provisions and judicial pronouncements.
“We are concerned about developments surrounding the ADC leadership dispute and believe that all matters before the courts should be determined strictly in accordance with the law,” he said.
Ismael maintained that the party remains confident in its legal position and called on the judiciary to ensure that all issues arising from the leadership dispute are resolved through due process.
“The Supreme Court has spoken, and we are confident that the issues before the court will be resolved based on legal principles and due process,” he stated.
He further urged judicial authorities to ensure fairness in the adjudication of all matters before the courts.
“We urge the court to remain guided by the law and ensure that justice is done and seen to be done,” he added.
The ADC chieftain also expressed concern over the state of opposition politics in the country, stressing the need to preserve democratic values and political plurality.
“Opposition parties remain an important part of Nigeria’s democratic process and should be allowed to operate freely within the law,” he said.
He called on stakeholders across the country to safeguard democratic institutions and strengthen public confidence in the rule of law.
“This matter goes beyond individuals; it is about strengthening democratic institutions and maintaining public confidence in the rule of law,” Ismael stated.
He also urged Nigerians to support efforts aimed at protecting democracy and preserving the integrity of the electoral process.
