The Ebonyi State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has distanced itself from reports claiming it has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Odii, ahead of the 2027 election.
The party alleged that the purported endorsement was being orchestrated by former officials who were expelled from the NDC in the state.
Speaking with journalists on Friday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Chairman of the NDC, Enyinnaya Udensi Alum, said the party had no intention of endorsing the candidate of any other political party.

He maintained that the NDC would only support and campaign for its own governorship candidate.
According to him, party members and supporters should disregard the planned endorsement, describing it as contrary to the principles and constitution of the NDC.
“Information reaching me, Hon. Prince Alum Enyinnaya Udensi, the Ebonyi State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is that a few former members of the party, who were sacked over financial impropriety and anti-party activities, are purportedly going to endorse one of the factional governorship candidates of the PDP on behalf of the NDC.
“Ebonyians, NDC members and other teeming supporters of the party should note that the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Ebonyi State has its governorship candidate, and the party has not and will at no time endorse any candidate of another political party other than the NDC governorship candidate,” he said.
Alum warned party members against attending any gathering organised for the purported endorsement, saying such an action would amount to anti-party activity.
He also urged the general public to disregard individuals behind the planned endorsement, insisting they were no longer members of the NDC and had no authority to speak or act on behalf of the party.
