2027: PDP will win if Jonathan is on the ballot – Agbedi

Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Fred Agbedi, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election if former President Goodluck Jonathan emerges as the party’s candidate.

Agbedi stated this during a television interview while commenting on the PDP’s preparations for the next general election and ongoing discussions surrounding the party’s presidential ticket.

According to him, Jonathan remains one of Nigeria’s most widely accepted political figures and possesses the national appeal needed to unite the PDP and attract support across the country.

He said the former president’s reputation, experience and leadership credentials would make him a formidable contender if he decides to join the race.

Agbedi noted that although Jonathan has not declared his intention to contest the presidency, his inclusion on the ballot would significantly improve the PDP’s chances of returning to power.

The lawmaker also expressed optimism that the party would resolve its internal differences before the 2027 elections, stressing that unity among members remains crucial to its electoral success.

He urged party leaders and stakeholders to continue working together to strengthen the PDP, expressing confidence that the opposition party has the capacity to mount a strong challenge in the next general election.
