Osun guber: Accord raises alarm over alleged plot to steal election materials

The Accord Party has raised the alarm over an alleged plan to steal electoral materials ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

The party expressed concern that any attempt to divert or tamper with election materials could undermine the credibility of the poll and disenfranchise voters.

Accord urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to strengthen the protection of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials before and during the election.

The party called for tighter security around locations where electoral materials would be stored and distributed, particularly during transportation to polling units.

It also urged security personnel to remain neutral and ensure that all political parties are given equal protection throughout the electoral process.

According to the party, electoral materials must be properly accounted for at every stage of the distribution process to prevent manipulation or diversion.

Accord appealed to residents, party agents and other stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or activity involving election materials to the appropriate authorities.

The party maintained that protecting electoral materials is essential to ensuring that the votes of Osun residents are accurately recorded and respected.

It further called on INEC to provide adequate safeguards against any attempt to compromise the August 15 governorship election.
