Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni has warned Nigerians against assuming that the outcome of the recent Osun State governorship election will be replicated in the 2027 general elections.
Oseni argued that the political circumstances surrounding the Osun election were significantly different from those that would shape the 2027 presidential contest.

He described as unrealistic any expectation that opposition parties would automatically achieve a similar outcome against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national level.
According to him, the 2027 election would involve a much broader political landscape, with different candidates, alliances, interests and voting patterns.
Oseni urged opposition politicians to avoid becoming complacent because of the outcome recorded in Osun.
He said the opposition would need a well-organised structure, effective grassroots mobilisation and a clear strategy to compete successfully against the APC in 2027.
The broadcaster also stressed the importance of understanding the differences between governorship and presidential elections, particularly in terms of their scope and political dynamics.
He called on Nigerians and political actors to approach the 2027 election based on its own realities rather than assuming that developments in Osun would automatically determine the national outcome.
Oseni maintained that opposition parties would have to work considerably harder if they hoped to challenge the ruling party at the presidential level.
He urged political stakeholders to focus on credible candidates, effective mobilisation and issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
