A group of bishops has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke not to seek vengeance following the outcome of the recent governorship election in the state.
The bishops made the appeal while reacting to the political developments surrounding the election and its aftermath.

They called on Adeleke to demonstrate maturity and restraint, stressing that political differences should not be allowed to create further division among the people of the state.
The clerics urged the governor to place the interests of Osun residents above personal or political grievances.
They also called on all political actors and their supporters to avoid inflammatory statements, intimidation and actions capable of escalating tensions after the election.
The bishops stressed the importance of forgiveness, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence, particularly at a time when the state needs stability to pursue development.
They urged Adeleke to accept the outcome of the electoral process and pursue any legitimate grievances through lawful and constitutional channels.
The religious leaders also appealed to supporters of the various political parties to refrain from provocation and respect one another despite their political differences.
They maintained that the election should not become a source of lasting division in Osun State.
The bishops urged all stakeholders to work towards reconciliation and peace, saying the people of the state should remain the ultimate priority of every political leader.
