A former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Salihu Lukman, has said efforts are ongoing to unite former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Lukman said the initiative was aimed at bringing major opposition politicians and groups together to form a stronger political platform capable of challenging the ruling APC.
He noted that the success of the opposition would depend on its ability to overcome personal interests and differences and work towards a common objective.
According to him, discussions are ongoing with various political actors as part of efforts to achieve a broad-based opposition alliance.
Lukman stressed the need for political leaders to prioritise the interests of Nigerians above individual ambitions.
He expressed optimism that the ongoing consultations could produce a formidable coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The development comes amid increasing political realignments and negotiations among opposition figures seeking a common platform to challenge the APC in 2027.
