Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has approved a N378 billion investment for the development of a National Food City in the state.
The project is aimed at strengthening Benue’s agricultural sector, improving food production and positioning the state as a major food hub in Nigeria.
The proposed National Food City is expected to support agricultural production, processing, storage and distribution, while creating opportunities for farmers, investors and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.
The initiative is also designed to boost food security, create employment and stimulate economic activities across the state.
Alia said his administration remained committed to attracting investments capable of transforming Benue’s economy and improving the livelihoods of residents.
The governor stressed the importance of leveraging the state’s agricultural potential to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s food supply.
The N378 billion investment is expected to further strengthen Benue’s position as one of the country’s leading agricultural-producing states.
