The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticised former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his political stance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike recalled that Amaechi supported former President Muhammadu Buhari against Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 presidential election.
He argued that Amaechi’s decision at the time contributed to the defeat of Jonathan, adding that Nigerians would have the opportunity to respond to his political choices through their votes in 2027.
The FCT minister made the remarks while commenting on the growing political activities and realignments ahead of the next general elections.
Wike urged Nigerians to remember the roles played by political leaders during previous elections when making decisions at the polls.
He maintained that politicians who made choices that affected the country in the past should be prepared to face the consequences of those decisions.
The minister also criticised Amaechi’s current opposition to the administration of President Bola Tinubu, questioning the consistency of his political position.
He urged Nigerians to carefully examine the records and past actions of political actors before deciding who deserves their support in 2027.
Wike’s remarks come amid increasing political exchanges between opposition figures and supporters of the Tinubu administration as parties and political groups intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
He stressed that the electorate ultimately holds the power to reward or reject political leaders through the ballot box.
