“Haaland’s Winning Goal Was An Error Of Judgement” – Pro Ref Apologizes To MUFC

English Premier League refereeing body Pro Ref has admitted an error of judgement over Erling Haaland’s winning goal in Manchester City’s 1-0 victory against Manchester United. Recall that the goal was initially ruled out for offside before VAR intervened and overturned the decision.

Taking full responsibility for failing to recognize Haaland‘s position before the goal, Pro Ref stated that VAR should have recommended an on-field review instead.

The ref body added that it has already reached out to Manchester United to apologize for the costly mistake.

A press statement read, “It was established that Enzo Fernandez did not play the ball and therefore that makes any offside offence subjective.

However, on this occasion, the VAR did not recognise the likely impact of his position and should have recommended an on-field review.

Contact has been made with Manchester United this evening to acknowledge what we deem is an error of judgement. A review of the incident will take place.”

Erling Braut Haaland is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester City and the Norway national team. Considered one of the best players in the world, he is known for his speed, strength, positioning, and finishing inside the box. Haaland holds the record for the most goals scored by a player in a single Premier League season, with 36.

Haaland was born on 21 July 2000 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, as his father Alfie Haaland was playing for Leeds United in the Premier League at the time. In 2004, at the age of three, he moved to Bryne, his parents’ hometown in Norway.

Along with playing football from an early age, Haaland took part in various other sports as a child, including handball, golf, and track and field. He also reportedly achieved a world record in his age category for the standing long jump when he was five, with a recorded distance of 1.63 metres in 2006.
