Moghalu Distances Himself From Atiku’s Policy Team, Says He Was Not Consulted

Professor Kingsley Moghalu has rejected his reported inclusion in the policy team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general election.

Moghalu said he was not consulted before his name was included in the team, stressing that he did not consent to the appointment.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, deputy governor made his position known in a statement, following reports that his name appeared among members of Atiku’s policy team.

He explained that although he had previously interacted with Atiku and respected him as a prominent political figure, no discussion was held with him regarding his alleged appointment to the team.

Moghalu therefore clarified that he should not be regarded as a member of the policy group and that his inclusion was made without his knowledge or approval.

He said his decision was based on the principle that individuals should be consulted before their names are publicly associated with political appointments or initiatives.

The development comes amid ongoing political realignments and consultations ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with political parties and various coalitions working to strengthen their structures and support bases.

Moghalu urged the public and media to take note of his clarification and disregard any impression that he had accepted a role in Atiku’s policy team.
